I recently installed Win 8 Enterprise 90 days trial using Virtualbox.

I tried Ctrl+Shift+Esc to bring up the task manager, but it apparently works on only the left ctrl and left shift keys..

Is this a bug or intentional ?

Update: Omg, fatal typo. I meant Ctrl+Shift+Esc. Sorry.

Right-Control is used by Virtual-Box itself as a 'host key', so isn't normally available.

You can change this in V-Box's settings <File--Preferences--Input>.

Reviving this old thread because I finally decided to Google why my Ctrl-Shift-Esc no longer brings up the task manager like it used to. Reading this thread, I discovered that while my left side Ctrl-Shift-Esc does NOT work, my right side Ctrl-Shift-Esc DOES work.

How interesting. And curious.

I would surely like to know the fix so that my left side keys work like my right side keys!

Any suggestions?

Win 8.1 pro x64.

I was having the same issue. I found that the shift key on my keyboard was causing windows to think I was trying to type a tilde, which is also on my esc key. For now I am using ctrl+shift+fn+esc to force Windows to register the esc key properly. It's a bit cumbersome but I'm happy with it for now. Hope this helps!
