VMWare virtual ethernet devices are disabled.
If not needed, un-install them.
If needed, enable them and update them - then re-disable

Daemon Tools (and Alcohol % software) are known to cause BSOD's on some Windows systems (mostly due to the sptd.sys driver, although I have seen dtsoftbus01.sys blamed on several occasions).
Please un-install the program, then use the following free tool to ensure that the troublesome sptd.sys driver is removed from your system (pick the 32 or 64 bit system depending on your system's configuration): [DEL] DuplexSecure - FAQ [/DEL] Link broken as of 21 Jul 2012
New link (15 Aug 2012): DuplexSecure - Downloads (pick the appropriate version for your system and select "Un-install" when you run it).
Alternate link: Disc-Tools.com
Manual procedure here: Registry and SPTD problems | DAEMON Pro Help

If removing Daemon Tools doesn't stop the BSOD's, then we'll turn our attention to the networking drivers. Please start by:
- download a fresh copy of the wired and wireless network drivers from the HP website
- uninstall the current drivers from your system
- install the freshly downloaded drivers
- monitor for further BSOD's

The latest memory dump blames your Avast. Please:
- download a fresh copy of the latest Avast program from their website
- uninstall the current program from your computer
- install the freshly downloaded program
- IMMEDIATELY update and perform a full scan of your system
- monitor for further BSOD's

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :

I am still facing the same issue....system is crashing while putting it on sleep or shutting it down..

Here is what i have done:
I have uninstalled the daemon tools,,,disabled the services of vmware,,uninstalled the ethernet drivers and using the default one,,,uninstalled the wireless drivers and installed the latest one,,,,uninstalled the avast (version 7) and installed the latest one(8.0.1488)..

I will appreciate if someone help ASAP bcoz i have called the hp people for the battery issue and if it is something to do with the hardware then i will discuss it with them also. Attaching the zip file...

It often takes 2 pages or more of posts to figure out a BSOD issue.
My initial impression is that this is software, not hardware - but that isn't based on test results, just on my previous experience. There is a possibility that it's a problem with the ethernet controller (because you've replaced drivers), but that's uncertain because sptd.sys is still involved.

It won't hurt to ask HP about it being hardware, so go ahead and ask and see what they have to say.

All 4 of the latest memory dumps blame Rt630x64.sys - a driver for your Ethernet. Please:
- download a fresh copy of the latest, Win8 compatible ethernet driver from the HP website (it looks like you downgraded the driver from a 2012 to a 2011 version when installing it recently)
- uninstall the current ethernet drivers
- install the freshly downloaded ethernet drivers
- monitor for further BSOD's

SPTD.SYS driver is still installed, please download the 64 bit version of this tool to uninstall this troublesome driver: DuplexSecure - Downloads (select "uninstall" when you run it).

That's more of an indication that it's the network card/drivers that are to blame. It makes me suspect hardware, but it could be that the driver isn't designed to handle that eventuality.

This memory dump shows the network driver again - and the sptd.sys driver is gone.
Last step is to run Driver Verifier according to these instructions: Driver Verifier Settings

If it's hardware, we suspect that Driver Verifier will either not cause a BSOD, or if it does, it's going not blame a 3rd party driver.

lease update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :

I've used virtual clone CD in the past, but with Win8 I just mount the drive with the built in right click option in Windows.
I'm not a big gamer, so I'm unsure how this'll work with games.

Did you run Driver Verifier as I asked? If yes, then I suspect a hardware problem with the ethernet card.
What did HP Support say when you talked with them?

If you haven't run Driver Verifier, please do so before proceeding to the next step (instructions here: Driver Verifier Settings )

The next step is to disable the ethernet card and see if that helps.
If possible, disable it in the BIOS.
If it's not in the BIOS, uninstall it in Device Manager and then disable the device before it reinstalls the drivers.
Test for further BSOD's

It can't hurt to install the Realtek drivers. But you've already tried different drivers before, so it's unlikely that 2 separate drivers had the same problem.

IMO it's either another program that's causing this (that's why I asked for Driver Verifier to be enabled) - or it's the ethernet hardware that's at fault.

Another thing to try would be to disable the ethernet controller in the BIOS - but I don't know if your BIOS has the ability to do this (laptop BIOS's usually don't have many options).

You-a Mr. Novice-man, it is you very bad Avast making-a problem.

You make-it-a-go-away by full uninstall and you make happy.

Turn on Windows Defender service when all a done and set it so it is Automatic too: services.msc

Any time there is network bsod and network drivers are good, always look to security software, vpn software, or 3rd party networking software as make-a problem.

Thanks Usasma.

From Novice's p.m. - "hello sir,
thanks for your reply..as you mentioned it is avast which is creating problems so could you please suggest any other free antivirus solution which can work fine with win 8 as windows defender is not too good for protection(stated by many websites..)"

to which I'll respond here:

Defender is better than they all say and think but if you really want some 3rd party anti-virus, install Kaspersky - stay away from AVG. If you install it, keep the actual software itself up to date as much as possible to lessen the chance of further bsods.
