I have an Asus S56c laptop which turns on and goes to a black screen. It is running windows 8 or 8.1 with an ssd. I am able to access the Bios and I tried to get it to refresh and do a factory reset but both times there was an error saying there is a file missing. I have taken the hard drive out and used an external drive to get my files off of the hard drive . I have another asus laptop but a different model running windows 8 as well.
I also have and external enclosure and external hard drives that I can use.
Can someone please explain simply or with links, what I need to do to put windows 8 or 8.1 back onto the laptop to get it working again. Please also help me to find out if it was win 8 or 8.1.
