Win 7 Games to Win 8

TONSCHUH
thanks, took a few goes where i was going wrong not including the brackets. enjoy these games but the apps versions are dreadful and slow to open too. only improvement was minesweeper.

I have a copy of best of microsoft games from w98/w95 but just cannot get it to run in compat mode.
not tried wXP pinball yet. other old favourites were dx2 ball and moorhuhn.

TONSCHUH - many thanks for the link!

I downloaded and installed the x86 application.

I can see a folder in Program File call Microsoft Games which has a folder for each game.

Each game folder has a .dll, app, png, and shortcut files, it also has a sub-folder with an mui file.

BUT, for what ever reason I can't get any of the games to run. I click on them and nothing happens!

In my Programs menu I can see a Games folder with a Games Explorer icon - if I click on this I get a Games explorer screen, but even if I drag and drop the games onto it they still don't run.

Can you advise what I am doing wrong?

FYI the build of my Win8 is 9200

Thanks!

You have to install the x86-Version for a 32-bit-Version of Windows and the x64-Version for a 64-bit-Version of Windows.
The Games will appear under Games in your Start-Menu.

You are also able to start them via the .exe in their folders:

Tested under Windows-8-Pro-WMC-x64.

I ran the uninstall and deleted the C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games folder, and started from scratch.
Re-downloaded the zip file and extracted it.
I have a 32 bit machine so I ran the x86 version.
Now, after the install has run, there is NO "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games folder", Nothing at all!
It is as if the install app had not run - Something installs because I can now run uninstall.
I tried manually creating the Program Files\Microsoft Games folder and re-running the install - same result.
I am not a novice in working with pc's but this has me beat!
One thing that I noticed is that the install only takes one/two seconds - is that normal?
Is there any chance that the app you uploaded is corrupt?
Any pointers would be appreciated!

It seems so, that some people have the same problem like you, but only with the x86-Version.

Try this package here, as it's made by a different guy:

It is from en-us source of WXP, WVista and W7 (both x64 and x32). Additional cs-cz MUI is standalone language pack installed later on en-us system.
Only thing, what English user should do, is to enter Pinball directory ( \Program Files\Microsoft Games\Pinball) and:
-rename pinball.hlp and pinball.chm to pinball_cze.hlp and pinball_cze.chm
-rename pinball_eng.hlp and pinball_eng.chm to pinball.hlp and pinball.chm
(It is Pinball help files only not UI interface of the game - UI of this game is always English.)

So you will always get English interface under English system.
