But will you upgrade -- that's what the OP was asking. You haven't said you will - or even implied that you will.

Cheers

My vote went from a maybe to a "yes" since I made it.

My decision was based on the fact that it's now stable on my machines. There is classic shell to fix what I was missing but ultimately it's going to be hard giving advice for an OS I don't use.

You're still showing up in the poll as a 'Maybe'.
Hit the 'Unvote' then vote again.

Only so he give advice on the forum.

Same reason I have it.

Hardly a ringing endorsement.

I don't consider it an upgrade in any sense.

I intend to use win7 as my main os.

That is probably why Smarty is not saying yes.

I have just upgraded my laptop to windows 8 pro as of yesterday morning, had to find something to do after the terrible outcome of the election in the united states of america...soon to be renamed the united socialist states of america now that we have Obama for the next 4 years. But that is another matter. so far I really like windows 8 pro. this laptop had windows vista on it which was terrible until i upgraded the ram to 2gb but then was tolerable. windows 8 pro is much faster and seems more stable than vista ever did

Woah you need upgrade your laptop altogether. There's acceptable & there's superb. To each his own however.

It is a well known documented fact that Win8 runs exceptionally well on older hardware.
Gives new life to old hardware that ran slow with even 7 on it.

Wow. People have such a twisted view on Windows 8. Yes, it does suck but, only because apps aren't yet written to deploy in Metro.
Not exactly how I feel. I think that Metro apps are garbage because they cannot be resized to my liking and they take almost my whole screen. Once you can resize a Metro app top to bottom and side to side...they will become more usable to me.

Yeah stuff like that too. Overall, the new UI in the start screen is very appealing. Now it's time to capitalize.

Just tried to install SlimDrivers, major fail. Windows 8 is supposed to be beefier on it's own authority on drivers but, I got a feeling they'll blow it somewhere & a 3rd party will be born. Didn't get to try DriverMax, etc.

I wish it would run on my old dell p4 but the tool says nope.

I think they are bad because there isn't really any options or settings for them. But I'm fine with just one click to the desktop.

Microsoft don't focus on 10 years old PCs when they build Windows 8

Voted yes, and upgraded as soon as it came out, both on my main desktop rig and my new Lenovo laptop.

Can't say everything's been perfect, but by and large I'm 99% happy.

I thought it was a very cutesy nice touch when it said "Hi" during the installation... :geek:

Although I think the Start menu has served its purpose well all those years, I prefer the full-screen Start that we have now.

Yay! My first post here. :D
