I have an inspiron dell 3542 laptop that runs on windows 8.1 64 bit...after doing a system restore my wifi stopped working...there is no enable/disable option and restoring the system does nothing..i even reinstalled windows to no avail.i noticed that the adapter in device manager doesnt exist and that seems to be the root of the problem..i installed some supposed drivers by transfering the install file through usb but nothing changed...i would appreciate any forms of help.

Supposed drivers? You should download the drivers from the Dell site for your model and try those. Make sure they are the ones for 8.1 64-bit.

Try the System analysis tool on the Dell support web site dell.com/support.

I believe you need to use Internet Explorer for the tool to work correctly, but I'm not sure about that.
