Wi fi issues

I have a sony vaio laptop operating system is windows 8 , my problem is it connects to wi fi but not to the internet , play store, etc every time I try I get a pop up saying I have no wi fi connection. Any ideas , any input that points me towards solving this problem I thankyou very much , your help is greatly appreciated. . Fixer58

Does a normal network icon appear in the task bar, i.e, without X or yellow triangle?

If a normal network icon apears, the number of devices connected to internet may has exceeded the maximum allowed number set by your ISP.

Have you attempted to reboot your router? (Pull the power plug from the outlet, wait 30 seconds, plug back in.) Rebooting the router can often fix weird problems like this.

Has this laptop been able to connect in the past?
