So that they can use Skype technology to build into Windows 8 for the webcam app ;)

That is my feeling as well, all i hope is that they do not ruin Skype for other platforms in the process.

I can only see it as a good thing. You could integrate your skype ID with your outlook, and then from there you could call/video call with that person on whatever device is convenient for them.

Yeah that is true, It wouldnt be too bad within outlook actually, i assume they will just release it as a stand alone client for Mac/Linux if they did go this route.

I don't think Microsoft bought Skype just to compete with FaceTime. FaceTime has its limits in the Mac ecosystem. Skype is a cross platform solution, and can be marketed as a consumer and enterprise solution in this new world of mobile video calling.

I wasn't talking about FaceTime, I was talking about "Location Gate". In a pointed jab fun way.

Then you would continue to use Skype the application. The Outlook integration would just be an extension.

My apologizes. Hopefully MS takes some lessons on what not do away from that whole scandal.

I hope they are not going to tie it to Outlook - who wants Outlook. I wonder what they are going to do to it in order to recover their investment. They will have to pop up a commercial after every word you speak.
