Why does a printer show as a drive?

One of my two USB-connected printers, a Canon MP640, has long shown in Disk Manager as a Disk - Removable (N, No Media. Why? Is there a way to remove it from there? It doesn't show in an external program, such as Easeus Partition Manager. Win 8.1 Pro x64. Thanks,

Does it have a card reader? In folder options check hide empty drives.

No card reader. My focus is on Disk Manager, and my goal is not to hide empty drives but to eliminate drives that (apparently) shouldn't be.
