We have an Asus Transformer that the wife uses only on trips for checking the mail. But we have never detached the keyboard and don't use the touchscreen. I use an 11.6" Asus laptop on trips. But for real work I need my 22" screen and my i7 desktop CPU. Anything else is too slow for video encoding which I do a lot.

I recently swapped my Asus B101 for a Nokia Lumia 2520.

The i5 processor on the B101 was amazing but it was 4 year old technology and the battery lasted a wee bit over 2 hours. It was killing me when I had to be mobile with it.

The 2520 has a sweet Snapdrgon 800 quad core at 2.2ghz. Plenty fast enough for me.

Do I miss the x86 abilities? Not that much. I never really understood why Windows RT was so poorly received. I guess people could not wrap their minds on using a tablet with Windows. Have you ever used an x86 app with a touch screen??? It's murder. Really. I have my desktop at home for those applications. I really don't need them when I am out and about. And, when I did use x86 apps on my B101 it was nearly always with at least a mouse. Now you have to drag a mouse around with you.

Yes, there could be more apps in the Microsoft store but seriously, how many apps do you really need?
1 billion? Really?

There is barely anything I could do on my Android tablet that I can't do on my Windows tablet AND I have full Office on my tablet, access to a nicer interface, Onedrve interfaces better than Dropbox or Drive on an Android.

I would pick a Windows RT tablet anyday of the week over and Android tablet. And would prefer it to my full laptop for mobility a lot of the time.

No, it is this one:
Buy HP Stream 7 Signature Edition Tablet - Microsoft Store

I think the difference might be due to the T-Mobile option of the one that you showed.

Thanks for the link. But it does not seem for me with my only 40% vision. I saw this comment:

But the tablet is unusable in its current state due to the incredibly small font used through out the UI and it's unchangeable too!

Is that your experience too. Is there no way to increase the DPI which I can do on all my Windows devices.

Well, now I'm curious and will have to check that out. I haven't had any issues reading it...but then again, I have to use my glasses for any computer time. So, I will check this out tonight and post back later or tomorrow whether or not you can change the DPI.

Type DPI on the start screen and you should get to that screen. I set mine to 150% - but that is on a 22" screen. On a small screen you should stay with 125%.

It is not an option for this tablet either. It was set to 125 by default with no option to change it unless you wanted to go smaller. However, you could use the zoom keystrokes, the pinch motion going outward and it would zoom on the screen. On the settings screen it said to use the magnifier tool to enlarge small text. So, it may not work for you due to your vision. But it is a sweet little tablet none the less. Enjoy!

I've been using the Dell Venue Pro 8 for just about a year now. I would love a Surface Pro, but the Dell was way more in my budget. I went with the 32GB edition and added a 32GB class 10 SD card. After further adding a Bluetooth mouse & keyboard this replaced my older laptop. I also added a USB to micro-USB adapter and use my Xbox 360 controller with it. It does pretty decent. I can use it for work to take notes and use Office programs and I can use it to play app games. It will run ES4: Oblivion with mods and some other older games pretty nicely.

My only wish would be for a larger storage option (currently 32GB max SD card) and faster reading of the SD card.

When I had my Dell Venue 8 Pro (before I got my Surface Pro 3), I had the 64GB model and used a 128GB microSD card with it. I'm pretty sure your 32GB model will accept 128GB cards as well.

Sandisk recently announced a 200GB microSD card that would probably work as well but at $400 would cost more than your tablet.

I have an original Surface RT and like it a lot, however it gets kind of sluggish at work after a while once I plug it into the college's network.

Now that they have announced the Surface 3, I wonder if I'll be upgrading to that in the future or this: ASUS Transformer Book

The Surface 3 was announced last year (I've had mine since 6/20/2014) and there are rumors that MS will announce the Surface 4 soon (there's also rumors of a mini-Surface).

Edit: Never mind, I see MS just announced the Surface 3 and I was referring to my Surface Pro 3.

Correct. Looks like Windows RT is pretty much a lost cause aside from the small update I understand it's going to get in order to adopt maybe a few of Windows 10's features (I have to admit I've repeated this a few times online but is this officially confirmed?). But this new Surface 3 seems to still extend the original philosophy, that is, the fit-and-finish of a Surface at a lower price point, but of course the bonus is that I guess now it can run all Windows programs, not just store apps.
