Brink Administrator Administrator mvp Messages 25,274 Mar 2, 2013 #2 Hello Clive, If you like, you could use the included BitLocker To Go feature in Windows 8 to encrypt your USB flash drive. For better encryption strength, you could set it to use AES 256-bit in step 1 instead of the default AES 128-bit. http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/21188-bitlocker-turn-removable-data-drives-windows-8-a.html Hope this helps, Shawn

Brink Administrator Administrator mvp Messages 25,274 Mar 2, 2013 #4 Yes, it sure will if the USB flash drive is formatted as FAT32, and not NTFS. When you connect it, you'll be prompted to enter your BitLocker password before it will be unlocked as usual.

Brink Administrator Administrator mvp Messages 25,274 Mar 2, 2013 #6 Sorry to hear that. In Windows 7, BitLocker To Go will only be available in the Windows 7 Ultimate and Windows 7 Enterprise editions. BitLocker Drive Encryption - BitLocker To Go - Turn On or Off - Windows 7 Support Forums If all else fails, the free program TrueCrypt is a good option to use as well. Brink Administrator Administrator mvp Messages 25,274 Mar 2, 2013 #10 Yep, a removable data drive (ex: USB flash drive) encrypted by BitLocker To Go is self contained. It can be used on any PC if formatted as FAT32. If formatted as NTFS, then it will only be able to be used on computers running Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows 7, Windows Server 2012, or Windows 8.
