When do you think Windows 8 Beta 1 will come out?

i was just wondering when you guys think Beta 1 will be available for download?

i think about 1.5-2 years from now
 
yeah it will have a totally new kernel i think and also a lot of new features, more performance and more stability
 
Making something perform better on crapware, as well as adding new features is rather difficult. While it would be nice if they could just snap their fingers and make a new OS thats flawless, it just can't happen like that.

Personally they should just start from scratch, New Kernel, Filesystem, GUI, etc. Even if it takes like 4-5 years.

And then we will have a forum full of whiners because their win7, vista and xp drivers and apps don't work on win8. :p:D

Well they'll have to get over it now wont they? :) Its been a while and I think they need a complete overhaul (W7 is nice but could have been better) and need to just start from scratch.

I totally agree.

You have to let go of the past sometimes.

They should do what they did with 98 and NT, develop a brand new OS as a side track to the current development, and then at some point dump the obsolete one.

A transition fase of a couple of years.

I agree with you dannyp32. It will take longer to hit stores than 7 did, But I believe it will leak early. Ms must be aware of the enormous base of testers anxious to get a shot at critiquing and reporting their newest bits via the net.Hence my prediction Oct 2010. Win 8 leaked to the wide world of non official beta testers. Free testing for MS in the real world on old hardware and new hardware and anything in-between. With hardware technology moving forward as it is then software must move forward also. Software must be used,give us some.

Yes, I'm ready for them to give me some new SW to 'play' with.
