Solved When a tile is touched it returns to tile display in a sec

I am new to Windows 8, and on the tile display, when I touch a tile, i.e. the weather tile, a black screen appears with Accuweather.com in the middle; this lasts about a second, then the tile window display reappears. I would expect that the Accuweather.com website would appear, but it never does. Other tiles act the same way, but some apps are executed when the tile for them is touched.
Is this a bug, or am I doing something wrong?

That solution appears to be for a computer that was upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 8. My computer is a new Lenovo Ultrabook which came with Windows 8 already installed. The problem with the programs activated from touching tiles was present from the beginning if I recall correctly.
It's not a big problem since I operate from the desktop all the time rather than touching the tiles.
Will upgrading to Windows 8.1 resolve this malfunction?

Nar, it's for troubleshooting Store and app issues in Windows 8 and 8.1 regardless if was a clean or upgrade installation.

Depending on what the issue is, updating to Windows 8.1 may or may not help.

But the tiles that are misbehaving were nothing that I added to the computer. The tiles were there on their own.

If it involves a modern app or the Windows Store, then that's what the troubleshooting steps are for. Please give them a try for now, and report back to be able to have a starting point with this issue.

The problem involves neither a modern app nor the Windows Store. I have never downloaded anything from the Windows Store so this exercise would just be a waste of my time. The tiles that quickly close just appear to be links to a URL, but don't work. If I use the browser on the Desktop and select the link, i.e. Accuweather.com, it displays without a problem.

From your first post, you indicated you had an issue with "tiles", "weather tile", "Other tiles act the same way", and "some apps". That's why I recommended what I did.

Now that you have given more details that this issue is only with a pinned website on the Start screen instead, then what I recommended will most likely not help with this. Before we rule this out though, do you have any issues with themodern Internet Explorer opening from your Start screen?

For now, if you unpin the website shortcut to remove it from Start, and "Pin to Start" a new one from your desktop IE, does it work?

No, both IE (Version 10) and Firefox launch okay from the start screen.
I unpinned the tile with the Accuweather link, but I don't know how to re-pin this link if I wanted to.

The tutorials above can help show you more on how to, but you would just go to the site in IE that you want to pin and pin it.

After unpinning the weather tile and then bringing the weather website up on IE and saving it to the start screen, it now works as I expected it to work. I can see that this is a useful feature to have.
Thanks for giving me the clue on how to make it work as intended.
