Have a look at Latvian ISP numbers, they are crazy fast. I'm an American living in Riga and the Internet is crazy fast and crazy cheap. I'm at a different computer typing this so I can't send a screen shot, but speedtest.net from my wired computer at home gives me ~400 Mbps download and over 300 Mbps upload. This costs me about $30/month... yeah boyeeee

Think of us in South Africa (I live in a very small town ... larger towns are usually up to 10Mbps enabled, and in some larger cities a lucky few can get FTTH (Fibre to the Home), up to 20 Mbps, at a high cost) ...

The theoretical max DL I can achieve is only 4 Mbps, as our local Telkom exchange only supports that speed. I am lucky if I achieve an actual DL of 3.4 Mbps, and an UL of 0.4 Mbps (yes, that's Zero point 4 DL on a good day.

I am capped at 20 GB data usage per month, although I can buy 'top-up' data ... at extra cost.

We have only one fixed line ADSL provider, and that is the Government-controlled Telkom.

Good Mobile data connections are available in towns, but using mobile data e.g. 3G is VERY expensive here, although the prices are trending downwards.

TWC must be congested in your area. 100 Mbps here in LA is always maxed out.

I have come to hate this thread ... I reckon I need to move to a first-world country

This is the best I get, and am unlikely to achieve any better, as our local exchange only supports up to 4 Mbps DL. There is no such thing as a "fibre to the home" offering here. We have only one (and it is government controlled) fixed line operator, Telkom, in South Africa

Gee, I guess the 'half-fast' ads hit on a valid complaint, that upload speed doesn't match down -
