This is with a DSL modem. I live in Maine where there is no cable or anything else other than satellite or DSL. So I go with DSL My friend had satellite and his ping was over 700ms. So until TWC invests in my neighborhood and I can get cable I will be staying with Fairpoint.

I think comcast just gave my upload speed a major boost. I use to only get 3mbs for the longest time, then last year it went to 6mbs, and I just tested now and got a whopping 28mbs. You can look at my post from a few days ago above, it was only 6mbs.

I think speedtest.net is a little messed up today. I keep getting results like this on verizon 3g.

I wish it was that good. I dont even get that on my cable internet.

This is my first test after upgrading from Windows 7 to Windows 8 on my desktop PC. These are the best speeds I have ever seen. (I have 50/25 service on FIOS)

http://www.speedtest.net/result/2496030960.png This is a dual boot machine XP and Win 8. New Charter Cable installation. In XP I see 32 Mbps down with 3.4Mbps up. With Win8 I get 2.8 Mbps down and 3.8 Mbps up. I don't understand why Win8 is so much slower on same physical hardware. Also why download is consistently slower than upload . I need to get this worked out before I switch to cable from Uverse. At present this computer is connected directly to cable modem not through a router. The cable is about 15' long. Computer has an MSI k9n6gm MB with Athlon 64 x2 cpu, 4mg ddr2 ram, 240 GB SSD for win 8 system and 400 GB sata Seagate HD for XP and dat
