We got tired of forking out an arm and a leg for Comcast, so we cut the cable and switched to DSL. I'm pretty impressed: AT&T advertises 6Mbps down, and we average ~5.75Mbps. It's nowhere as fast as cable was, but we pay quite a bit less.

mine might be better on Comcast because I just got a new modem to accommodate our new Comcast home security which runs off the internet and a cellular network. This test was done on my desktop not my wireless laptop. My wireless still goes through a Linksys router. The home security has its own netgear router and the Linksys one is piggy backed to the netgear one then the netgear goes into the modem

Just upgraded to BT Infinity - it is still optimising - sometimes I can get near my expected limit of 76 Mb/s down 20Mb/s up, but it is a great improvement over the slow upload times and excessive buffering I experienced on Virginmedia. A 3 Gb download from Microsoft in about 7 minutes - sheer joy!
I'm an Australian user, and I'm on a stupid hotspot from my phone using an OPTUS Unlimited plan, but max download speeds I get are 800kb/s on a good day, so my Internet speed in self exainatory (can't spell).
On the other hand, with my father's Internet back home when I visit, he gets 5mb/s download rates. Jeez.
