Solved What will happen to the windows app store

Since windows 10 came out will the app store close down before windows 8.1 is eol? I been wondering this for a while

Nothing. Windows store is coded as a part of the Microsoft products update.

Store may end up later doing all of its updates through the other side, to take some of the load off.

At this point 7 & 8 are going nowhere. 10 has a long way to go, before it has all of its problems fixed.

Enterprises pan on sticking with 7 as long or longer than they did with XP.

I doubt the Windows Store is going anywhere. On top of what broe123 said, MS also has Windows RT devices out there that depend on it for their apps.

8.1 support should continue until 2023.
Speculation--- I doubt the Store will go away.
