I'm learning about the new chkdsk suffixes in Chkdsk such as /offlinescanandfix and spotfix. Which of these new options checks all sectors for bad sectors, such as chkdsk /r did?

chkdsk /? will give you all flags. Normally all you need to do is a chkdsk /f

I've just used chkdsk /r for the first time and it took about 5 hours to check a 2T hard drive! It stuck at a low percentage then suddenly completed with no errors. Use chkdsk /r /v and it will tell you more about what it is doing.

Which of these new options checks all sectors for bad sectors, such as chkdsk /r did?

was the original question.

It is still /R

I can't remember using /R on a disk larger than a GB. I thought bad sectors when detected were added to a bad sector table and the info copied to a good sector, on all modern day HD.

When formatting a drive I always do the slow format. That checks for bad sectors during the formatting.
