hi guys

perhaps someone might be able to tell me what is the best verion of opera for a pc running windows 8?

i assume all windows 8 are 64 bit verions ?

2 gigs of ram

dual core celeron

i am specifically trying to get as light and stable a browser as i can that supports google docs without killing the resources pf the pc.

thank you

I think a 32 bit version will be less memory-hungry. I ran Opera recently on a 1gb RAM XP system after trying FF and Chrome and it seemed to be the smoothest experience for that machine.

Opera knew I was using an x64 computer.

My version---

the problem is shows as 32 bit in the task manager. why is that ?

thanks for all the replies

just for the record the pc is a windows 8 64 bit operating system with a 64 bit dual core celeron with 2 gigs of ram

what i dont get is why the task manager shows 32 bit when it is a 64 bit version of opera ??

Does it say on the Opera browser somewhere which one it is?

Just installed it. Click on the Opera Icon (Top left) and then About Opera. Loook at the Paths section if it says C;\Program Files (x86)\Opera it's the 32bit version. If it says C:\ Program Files\Opera it's a 64bit

The development of the 64 bit version is lagging behind that of the 32 bit version. At the present time it is available in only the 12.xx version. All other versions are 32 bit only.
