It doesn't matter what day it is, it doesn't matter what time it is, it doesn't matter if I have some work to do or not, it doesn't matter if I have money or not, it doesn't matter if the world is at peace or not, it doesn't matter how much money I am left with , it doesn't matter if I am in love or heartbroken, it doesn't matter if I am alive or dead. I listen to the Beatles, day in and day out. Each day, every day! Yeah! Yeah! Yeah!

It is the second single from the album Appetite for Destruction. Perhaps one of the most famous and renowned standards of rock in the late '80s and early '90s.

Controversial maybe, but not political......

Speaking for myself, I've always done just fine with no drugs of any kind. Never touched them, or needed to, or wanted to.

But, musically, everyone admired this. In 1967, it was far ahead of its time and pioneered the "New Wave."

The Velvet Underground (with Lou Reed): "Heroin"

Also controversial

In the 60's (at least in the United States) it was still usually taboo to sing a song about "sick" people (i.e. mentally sick). It might be done in a very lighthearted and humorous way, but not anything serious or unpleasant -- and, especially, not any sexual kind of sickness.

By 1969, when uptight America was a little more ready to accept such things, The Who had a success with their concept album, "Tommy."

But back in 1966 they had made a tentative stab in that direction with this song, which was suppressed in the U.S. so that hardly anyone there heard it at the time.
