How did you do it on your desktop ?

I can give you instructions if you need them but if you've already done it on the desktop it should be the same.

Just for more information. Is it a Surface or other brand? If a Surface, an RT or Pro? If a Pro, it should configure as Joan described. If an RT or other brand, I'm not sure, but I'm quite sure someone here will know.

Sorry I can't help you, I have no knowledge with tablets. My Windows 8 OS is installed on an Asus Notebook, I can't remember how I did mine it was a while ago but I have the book Step by Step Windows 8 so probably followed the instructions in that which are ----

Open the Start screen, type netplwiz, in the search result open the User Accounts window. Select your user account and clear the Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer, click OK and you will be asked to enter and confirm you password then click OK.
The next time you start windows you will be logged on automatically to the user account you've selected.
