My System is not getting shut down. When i click Shut down it will get restarted after few minutes. no external storage is been detecting by the pc like hdd,pendrives etc.and also i cant even reset the pc.. for more than 1 hour i sit still.. it just shows the below pic. somebody please help me to solve the issue

Hello Everyone,

I'm a longtime member on SevenForums. I had the option to upgrade my 2 Win 7 PCs to Win 8 but passed on the offer so I only peeked in to this forum here and there to get the feel of things (and apparently make a few posts). Well guess what? I just got a great deal on a Touch Screen laptop with Win 8. So here I am, ready to dive in.

So far I updated it to Win 8.1 and haven't really done much more than use the desktop, which already has me a bit confused as compared to Win 7.

I'm eager to get the most out of the OS so was hoping someone could point me to some good tutorials or other stickies where I can learn, learn and learn. Thanks!

Hello people! I am very happy to have found this forum. I have read many of your tutorials.
I am willing to do a dual boot win7-8 UEFI, but I still have many doubts about the proper procedures.




I've had systems with three or four different OS, but with the new UEFI I feel confused!!!


Can you direct me to the correct section where to ask for my case? Of course I know that any help will be given ... so thank you in advance!

I see you list 7 as your OS. Are you considering 8 or 8.1?

The wifes lappy runs 8.1 and after I removed all the trash icons and the green lock screen I have now set it to boot directly to the Desktop and that suits her fine.

I however will continue running Win 7 as long as I have a hole in my derrière.

hello, my name is Nabeel and I have a problem with windows 8.1, when I start the computer it consumes processor 100% and the temp rises to 70 + continues. but eventually when I start the task manager the processor becomes cool and usage decreases to 20% approx. now the process doing this job is CVTRES.EXE IT consumes full processor. I have the stored file by system process monitor. plz help
