Watchdog violation BSOD, possibly caused by ntoskrnl.exe

I have been getting BSOD while using graphically extensive programs, when checking the dump file with blue screen view the only thing that is a different color is a red ntoskrnl.exe+18ae3c . I have been working on troubleshooting my pc for 3 days now, and the ntoskrnl seems to be the only thing that seems to most likely be the cause for the watchdog violation.

Looking at some of the other dump files it also shows that nvlddmkm.sys+1372e2 and Hal.dll+54d1 may also be part of the problem causing the watchdog violation, I’m not sure if these are drivers I have to update/reinstall, or what, but if they are could I also get assistance with were to update them, sorry I’m not too computer literate.

Please run HDTune first, in the order posted!

Run HDTune to

• check the health,
• scan for errors, no quick scan but full scan
• run a benchmark.

It may take some time, but please take the time you need to perform it properly.
When above is done please make screenshots of the following

• the health,
• the error scan,
• the benchmark incl. following
  • transfer rate,
  • access time,
  • burst rate,
  • cpu usage.

Run SeaTools DOS to check the integrity of your HDD. SeaTools for DOS and Windows - How to Use - Windows 7 Help Forums
Run the long test.

   Note

Do not run SeaTools on an SSD as the results will be invalid.

Make a photo of the result and post it.

Run chkdsk
Disk Check - Windows 7 Help Forums
Use option TWO with parameter /r
Upload the chkdsk log :ar: Check Disk (chkdsk) - Read Event Viewer Log - Windows 7 Help Forums

My computer doesn’t want to turn on right now... I turned it on to do what ace 0 said, but it didn’t “turn on” the fans and lights were on, the monitor stays in sleep mode(same with any monitor I plug in) and whatever mouse or keyboard I use don’t seem to have any affect. So I’m probably gonna take it into a geek squad place to have it looked at, from what I could tell while troubleshooting before is that there was no hard drive corruption so my files should be fine either way. Thanks for the help, if my computer decides it wants to completely turn on, I’ll post an update.

Update: i decided to not go to the "geeksquad" just yet, and i ended up getting my pc to turn on again, here are the screenshots you wanted Axe0:

i ran another chkdsk scan and that was what i got from it

2 scans that show the same results? If so, it gives the indication that there's something wrong with the hard drive, even though the other tests are fine.

in that case, would replacing the hard drive and transferring the files fix the issue? or would transferring the files just continue the issue?

Replacement and transferring would very likely fix the issue, if transferring gives issues it means there are issues with the files (corruption possibly).

alright, so im gonna see about getting a new hard drive then, plus that does make a bit more sense, because from what ive heard online windows wouldn't boot up if ntoskrnl was corrupted. thanks, any more advice?

If ntoskrnl would be corrupted, you would see it on the screen after Windows attempts to fix the problem.

When replacing a hard drive, it's always recommended to perform a clean install, my advice is to perform a clean install, reinstall everything and put your files on a USB or extern drive.
