new to 8.1 . Been on win since 3.11, but spent little time on 8 and only 6 mo on 10 before going back to Ubuntu and win7.
Ubuntu: NWN2 via wine runs cpu too hot (89) - so brought everything to win7.
Looking at Jan 2020 for win7, last night I updated to win8.1 so I can get updates for 3 yrs(I update MANUALLY a week before patch Tuesday). Surprisingly easy, (I use the win7 looking desktop), but I find I have forgotten a few things... !!! :)

I turned off/deleted hibernate. Def don't trust it.
I also set Power to turn display off at 10 min and sleep NEVER.
BUT
I would love to have it require a password when I wiggle the mouse to turn the display back on.
Or do I have to use sleep? (which I hate as I have had probs with that in the past with 8 and 10.)
I could use WIN key+L but that is manual and I would love to have it more automatic.

Thanks!!!

SOLVED: Never mind! I realized that the built in screensaver would do what I want. Set screensaver to 9 min and check ask for password. Set power to blank display at 10min. Set sleep to 15 min.
