Hello Excaka, and welcome to Eight Forums.

Before we are able to answer that correctly, please tell us a bit about your system, and fill out you system specs. :)

Is this a PC that came with Windows 8 preinstalled, or are you using a retail Windows 8 installation DVD/USB?

win 8 was on a computer i bought from ibuypower.

Take the above as meaning a OEM manufacturer's PC Pre-installed with Windows 8. (OEM like HP,Sony, Acer)

You can switch the case, but not motherboard.

In addition, that means that you will need to purchase a new copy of Windows 8 to use on the new motherboard that basically is a new PC now.

Preinstalled OEM Windows 8 are not transferable to another PC. :(

Can I transfer the software to another user?

You may transfer the software directly to another user, only with the licensed computer. The transfer must include the software, proof of purchase, and, if provided with the computer, an authentic Windows label such as the certificate of authenticity label including the product key. You may not keep any copies of the software or any earlier version. Before any permitted transfer, the other party must agree that this agreement applies to the transfer and use of the software.

They're pretty much the same price at any retail outlet. A retail copy is able to be transferred to another PC.

If you're a student, then you may be able to get one through the school cheaper.
