I just brought a new Gateway desktop PC. It had Windows 8 preloaded on it. I am experiencing very slow internet speed. Does anyone have any suggestion on how I can fix this? Thank You!

Are you connecting (wired or wireless) to a router or directly to the ISP's modem? Has it worked OK with a different PC?
What speed are you supposed to have? and what speed are you actually getting. Run this speed test. www.speedtest.net

Thanks for responding. I am currently wired directly to my modem, but I have tried both ways. I have a 5 Mbps connection. And it is testing at 5.82 Mbps. So, that seems to be at the correct speeds. Although when I download big programs with download speed trackers, it start downloading fine and then the downloading speed drops constantly until it reaches 0 and then the downloading speed starts 2 back up constantly from 0 until it stabilizes and then the process starts over again. I am a gamer. I play MMORPG games. I also notice that my speed in the game is a lot slower. When I downloading my game it take over 5 hours to download. The same game only a little over 2 hours to download in Window 7. I am thinking that it is probably in the Windows 8 settings somewhere, but I have not been able to locate them. Any suggestions that you might have would be greatly appreciated. Thank you again
