Solved Verify account / local account

I have read various posts about verifying accounts and the use of local accounts instead of MS account. I am set-up with MS account and PIN login. Over the last month or so I have on several occassions been signed in to a temporay account and told to sign out / sign in again. By a process of trial and error I have established that I need to verify my account, 2 stage with code to mobile phone, and after a restart everything is fine. However the frequency of needing to do this seems to be increasing and even more frustrating the link to verify account is not always on the account screen. Yesterday I verified account, inserted code but still the temporay account came up. Today the verification process worked and I am back to normal. In total I have spent about 1 hour on the latest occurence getting normal access to computer.
Does anybody have any ideas as to why this is happening? I use the computer nearly every day so it is not MS checking because the computer has not been used for some time. I use 2/3 programes like CCleaner regularly to clean junk and tidy up registry. I wondered if one of these could be deleting some link and setting off the sequence.
I have no strong feelings about logging in with MS as I use LastPass to manage my logins so is the answer to ditch the MS login and switch to a local account?
As always any help / ideas would be greatly appreciated

Thanks for very detailed technical method of fixing problem when it occurs which I have perused. I will read very carefully and perhaps experiment. I am however nervous about editing registry as I am all too well aware that one wrong entry can cause havoc with system i.e. the cure is worse than the disease. Your tutorial indicates that the usual cause of the problem is corruption / deletion of user profile. Any hints as to what is causing this, maybe / probably one of the cleaning programs? If so which of the following do you regard as safe to use Ccleaner, WinUtilities, Ashampoo WinOptimizer or should I avoid using any of them?
Would switching to a local account eliminate the problem?
Regards

thanks for idea. I am using W8.1 and have verified account so presumeably mine is a trusted device. The annoying thing about what is happening is that sometimes after a temporary login the verify option is there and sometime not

I would recommend to not use any of the registry cleaning features. They often cause more damage than any good they could do.

To be safe, you can create a restore point before editing the registry. This way if you make a mistake, you could easily do a quick system restore using the restore point to undo it. :)

thanks for update. I will be very carefull in use of optimizer programs in future. I followed your tutorial on editing registry and I have to admit I am too scared of making a mess. I have spent too much of my time getting my existing set-up to work how I want it to risk a complete re-start albeit that in principle a restore point should rescue me.
Regarding restore points would they be available in a "temporary profile" start-up? I suspect not from the text in the tutorial and they would make a very simple solution to the problem. Incidently as appears to happen with so much in Windows your excellent tutorial screens are not replicated on my machine and I had to do some searching around to find the next step more than once.

thanks for all your help regarding this. I have switched to a local account and my machine is up and running a lot more quickly. I use a paaword manager so logging in to Outlook, Skype etc. is not a hassle. I will try accessing system restore if the problem re-occurs.
