I would like to use other mail accounts (other than Hotmail) with the W8- email app but cannot find a way to add more e-mail accounts.
Is this not possible or am i overlooking something?

Open Mail, go to Charms Bar - Settings, then Accounts and click on Add an account. Enter your Gmail address and password ,things You want to sync, and that's it.

That's all.

And, for the POP accounts, read more here.

That is what I needed; I had not realised that the settings in the charms bar were for apps as well. Thank you very much!

You're welcome. BTW, items (and functions) in Charms Bar are changing, depending on the active application.

Yes, I had not fully understood that, probably because it is not used in many applications (yet?). For instance, Office2013 does not use it ...

Hello All,
I recently updated my laptop to windows 8 pro edition from windows 7 home premium sp1edition , so far my biggest complaint has been not being able to setup gmail as my default mailto handler like I was used to in windows 7.However after reading this post, there might actually be a way to get this accomplished.. at least with me, I've been trying to get this done by using software I downloaded from the web. So far none of it worked properly. Thanks for trying to help all of us with a solution for this issue.
David :)

Update: I followed the instructions given here by user kizo2703 , I did in fact get my gmail account setup / synced . Of course at least for me...the biggest test of all will be to get gmail to work when I click on a mailto: link on a webpage.
