USB PORT NOT RECOGNISED

Hi every one I have a Dell Precision 7710 the USB port on the left hand side of my macjine does not work I have tried seven different usb sticks none work in that port the do in th eother three ports I have uninstalled the usb drivers and reinstalled them again no joy I run the laptop diagnostics that reportred no faults I wen to dell support UK and ran the diag test it failed my wife has a 7720 dell diag test siad fail So I assume the diag test at dell is the fault back to the problem I down loaded the Usb root hub from Intel but stilll the same I have checked the connection on the main board no burn marks or anything I am at aloss

I have aproblem with mmy Usb 3.0 port I have tried reinstalling the intel exstenible host driver so it is not soft ware I have checked the main board for amny signs of burning a distotion of connectors so the problem is somewhere but where I do not know any one have any Ideas.

What you might try is remove from AC, remove the battery. Hold the power button for 10 seconds or so. Leave it like that for 30 minutes then try it again. No guarantees, but I have seen a full power bleed down restore USB function. Assuming not physical solder connection to MB

Hi thanks for te info I tried it NO joy I am begining the port it slf is faulty because all the connectio to the MB are solid even the Micro pot that shares the sampart of the MB works fine but not the usb I am considering just writing it off I hva three other ports again thanks any way

I have ordered a new Usb Port and when it comes I wil have it soldered by a profesional technician so I will close this post and again thaks for your help

Good luck. The connections on the MB for a USB will take expert soldering skills to be sure
