Solved Unforget a network connection?

It was worth a try.

I must admit that I'm not sure why it's no longer connecting to WiFi automatically for you when it did before. Are you sure you're typing in the correct password?

It wouldn't hurt to try and forget all WiFi connections and start from scratch.

Yes, password is correct. I'll try forgetting all WiFi connections.

I was going to use cmd.exe to show my profiles, delete all of them and start from scratch, but no profiles are shown?
This is getting fustrating.
I've been searching for a solution and tried a couple of things which worked for other people, but nothing seems to work for me.

Double check to see if you may be using some sort of 3rd party WiFi connection software, usually for your wireless adapter. If you are, that could be why Windows is not creating a profile of your WiFi connection.

If you like, post some screenshots showing the connection window to help determine. Be sure to block out any personal info before posting it though.

Not sure how to check if I am using 3rd party WiFi software.
My laptop is a Dell so perhaps it does use different software?

Something isn't right because the taskbar is showing that I am connected with a ethernet connection when I am connected by wifi at the moment.

No problem. It's the window (UI) you used when connecting to a wireless network.

I can't believe it, but I've just sorted it out.
The problem was having UAC set to 'high'. This was stopping the profile from being saved (as far as I can work out).
I remember (I think this is correct) when I had a problem a few months before and needed to change the network connection from 'public' to 'private', I had to turn UAC down and thought I would try it now.
I've now turned UAC back to 'high' and restarted the laptop, and it connects automatically.
Lots of other Windows users seem to have this problem so could this be a solution for them?
Thanks for your time and effort as always.

Great news.

I was about to pull my hair out as well trying to figure this out.

It is amazing how changing UAC settings from default to "High" will cause all these unknown issues.
