Underclocked CPU by Win8?

Maybe I'm just too stupid...

Few days ago I tried to figure out, why the hell is taskmgr showing CPU usage only 50%. Shows out, that it uses only 0.8 GHz instead of 1.6GHz. Never know that my CPU is underclocked.

Please notice, that in Vista, 7 and 8 DP, taskmgr show'd 100% like usual. It's possible, that Win8CP underclocked my processor?

Notebook: eMachines e620 (yes, it's very old).

No, Actually it's normal for certain cpus to bounce between different clock rates, windows 8 is the only windows so far that actually shows the current clock rate of your cpu.

Resource manager shows that in the graphs in Windows 7 and 8. It is a blue line on the graph.

Hi Delold,
You are in" Balanced" power option, if you switch to "High Performance" option you'll find the CPU work at full speed.

Thanks for the response.

Switched to High Performance option and it seems that computer runs much smoother. However I don't really know why it is still at 50%.

Maybe your processor is 50% idle, try to open up some useless programs, and it should get to 100%
