Solved Unallocated space as the first partition of my 250GB SSD.

Dear everyone,

I just noticed a 101 MB Unallocated partition at the start of my SSD BOOT Drive. It works fine nevertheless.

Look below:
Unallocated Partition.JPG

In Diskpart it shows the following, it is "reserved":
Diskpart disk 0 partitions.JPG

Wasn't this supposed to be the 100MB "system" partition? Meaning if I like to run a Recovery from Partition 5, it would have been Partition 4 before the restore of Acronis? I am not sure what I am saying actually hehe. Should I leave the 101MB reserved or is there any possibility to successfully add this reserved space to the OS partition?

Now I am uncertain if this was here before I had to do a restore of my earlier made backup with Acronis True Image 2014. I always use the CD to boot and don't make any backups in Windows. I did read something on Acronis forums regarding this, but I am unfamiliar with all these technical details. Actually, all other partitions show up in the order as I had before the backup.

Does someone here know about this and if this is fine or can I run into "problems" with some programs or anything?

Well, after some more digging myself I found that partition 1 above should normally between the efi partition and the boot c system partition. So in my case between partition 2 and 3. But it is unallocated and partition 1? Hope this still can be fixed without needing to reinstall everything because that would be a disaster (for me at least).

EDIT & UPDATE: FOUND THE SAME PROBLEM AS I HAVE HERE https://forum.acronis.com/forum/60129

But it is still a bit too complicated for me to grasp. Maybe with some great help we could solve this.

I hope there is at least someone who can inform me if the above is correct or not..... I don't know myself but something is telling me it can be different.

Hey folks ... if you look closely at the Disk Management screenshot, you will see 5 partitions PLUS the unallocated 101MB space.

The "reserved" in the Diskpart output is NOT referring to that 101MB of unallocated space.

This is why I got rid of Acronis, Even with the 2014 version they still could not correctly restore a UEFI OS Disk reliably. To the OP if all is working I wouldn't worry about it.

Well I fixed it with great and personal thanks to a man called "Mustang" on Acronis Forums. He helped me thoroughly with all steps necessary to resolve this. It wasn't really easy for me since I knew nothing about WinPE, MSR and EFI partitions in particular (a lot more now) and bootdisks with plugins for acronis etc.

What I did was to load WinPE with acronis plugin. Wiped the whole SSD drive with diskpart. Then created all the partitions as they originally need to be, e.g. that what Win 8.1 makes as default during a new installation. And then manually restored all the partitions one by one and that worked!!!

Look now :

I am happy again now because this is how it should be. I also will NEVER use any Acronis product anymore (at least not until they fix this crap by restoring a GPT partition as it should) and will look for something else for now. Thanks everyone! Case solved hehehe.

Well I heard that in 2015 about 4 rev in they actually fixed the issues. However I'll never go back to Acronis even though its cheaper. They won't supply any tech support and if you do actually get tech support to work with you, there useless and aggravating. Macrium Reflect has very few issues and tech support if you find one and it free unless you want to use it for File and folder back ups.
