I'm happy to help you. I suggested you this method because the same thing happened to me also. The only difference is my sw name is one key recovery (Lenovo thingy) which stopped working. So after setting id correctly now it's working.

So, I did some Googling and found that for a GPT disk I had to use set id=DE94BBA4-06D1-4D40-A16A-BFD50179D6AC

Can be found for example here.

Sample: Configure UEFI/GPT-Based Hard Drive Partitions by Using Windows PE and DiskPart

rem == 1. Windows RE tools partition ===============
create partition primary size=300
format quick fs=ntfs label="Windows RE tools"
assign letter="T"
set id="de94bba4-06d1-4d40-a16a-bfd50179d6ac"
gpt attributes=0x8000000000000001

rem === 5. Recovery image partition ================
create partition primary
format quick fs=ntfs label="Recovery image"
assign letter="R"
set id="de94bba4-06d1-4d40-a16a-bfd50179d6ac"
gpt attributes=0x8000000000000001

Way to go SIW2, :thumb:, and you others that helped. This stuff could be tutorial material, or maybe a sticky thread. I dare say there are a few other people that ended up in a very similar situation.

I have taken this from one posts in
http://www.eightforums.com/performa...-1-iso-breaks-system-image-functionality.html

diskpart
List disk
select disk 0
list partition
select partition # (the last partition)

set id="de94bba4-06d1-4d40-a16a-bfd50179d6ac"

I think the EASEUS partition manager caused all these problem. It changes the partition type of recovery partition to OEM. So it is not working for you. You need to change partition id of recovery drive manually.

Good observation. I have the latest Easeus pro version. Haven't got round to using it, because I have got a lot of these things. Strange behaviour from epm.

Glad to hear all is well Qub1 :)

I have made some changes. New version should create efi and bios bootable winpe media on 64 bit 7/8/8.1.

If you wish, you can put your winre.wim ( or boot.wim ) in the the same directory. It is not necessary. If you don't have those to hand it will try and find winre.wim from your hard drive.

Several programs are included automatically, and if you have any of the following installed on your running os, they can go in as well:

Aomei Backupper ( Best free imaging program )

Aomei Partition Assistant ( free and paid versions - they are doing giveaways of the pro in various places atm )

Macrium reflect (free and paid version) Macrium Reflect FREE Edition - Information and download

Partition Guru ( free or Pro [unregistered] or Pro ) Data recovery, partition management and disk utilities - Eassos PartitionGuru

Paragon 12 and 14 series ( 64 bit versions - only the paid versions at the moment, though they have just done a drive copy giveaway in 64 bit ) PARAGON Software Group - partition manager, drive backup, hard disk partitioning

All I can say SIW2 is OMG! This whole thread is like the Holy Grail for us with only recovery partitions. Your work is much appreciated.

Maybe Brink will consider turning this into a tutorial?

I have been working to verify ariftwister's claims that EaseUS was the cause of the problem, and was able to do so. I installed the Easeus partition manager and made a change to a partition. The two recovery partitions changed to a Type designation of OEM. After the change I saw a popup message from Easeus about updating the system information, which is more than likely when the problem occurred.

But the problem was a little more involved than just changing a partition ID to the Recovery GUID. On my system, the IDs were already set to the Recovery GUIDs and were not changed when the error occurred.

What it appears happened, was the Easeus utility removed the volume information from the two recovery partitions, as Diskpart noted in the quoted material. Since replacing the Partition ID with the same number was of no help, I ended up changing them to the Primary partition GUID, ebd0a0a2-b9e5-4433-87c0-68b6b72699c7. After a Reboot, the partitions showed up as Type Primary in Diskpart.

I then changed the partitions back to the Recovery GUIDs and the system was back to normal and the reagentc /info command completed.

Luckily you can copy and paste into, out of, and within a Command Prompt window, those GUID numbers can be a pain to type.

The attachments might help explain.

This place is becoming the cutting edge tech lab of fixing these kinds of common problems. Seems even TechNet hasn't addressed much of this.

Many, many computers now ship with only recovery partitions. Do Windows tablets have recovery partitions?

@alpha,

You might like to try the new version. https://www.dropbox.com/s/ta450qkrrpuaxlh/RE64v7b.zip

Added 32 bit version https://www.dropbox.com/s/cdaszlqki33pkdz/RE86v7b.zip

It can find winre.wim and create bios/efi bootable winpe media and .iso file.

It will include windows repair options and also any of the popular imaging and partitioning programs which you may have installed.

Extract to C:\RE64v2 like this:

RE64-1.jpg

For most people, just rt click and run as admin on the .cmd file:

RE64-2.jpg

Note for advanced users :

If you want to use your own custom/pre modified winre.wim or Dart boot.wim , just copy it into the RE64v2 folder ...then run as admin on the .cmd file:

RE64-3.jpg

Works for 64 bit 7/8/8.1
