Unable to locate NVIDIA graphics card

Hi,

I've had my PC about 6 weeks and all was running fine until about a week ago. If I try and use the NVIDIA control panel it says there is no NVIDIA product detected. I tried updating my drivers which didn't install correctly but seemed to fix the problem for a day until the problem came up again. I've tried uninstalling and re-installing the drivers but they won't install because it can't find the card.
I hadn't made any system changes prior to the problem.
The card is a GeForce GTX 660 Ti.
Any help would be much appreciated

Have you tried re-seating the video card? It may have shaken loose during shipping, transit, etc if it wasn't secured in its slot completely.

If so, then you may have a dud video card or slot. Best buy has a 14 day return policy with no restocking fee. You might want to run there and pick up a similar video card and replace your existing one. If it works then you've solved the issue and can deal with it accordingly. Return the bad video card to the vendor if you purchased and installed it yourself. Or contact the vendor that sold you the computer and ask how they would like to remedy the situation such as replace/exchange it, send an on site tech to repair it, whatever.

When all is said and done, once your issue is resolved, don't forget to return the GPU you bought at best buy inside of the return policy or keep it if it is a better card than the one originally installed.

It looks like your wireless card is a PCIe x1 card. If so, where do you have it plugged in? You might try removing it for testing, but on another ASUS motherboard (P8Z68), Windows 8 did not like a card in one of the x1 PCIe slots.

You might also check your bios to see what it shows for the GPU settings.

You should also be aware, if the video card has not been updated with a UEFI bios, it will not allow Windows 8 Secure boot and should put you back in the Bios setup. But this does not sound like what is currently happening. If you feel it could be part of the problem, make sure the CSM (Compatibility Support Module) is enabled.

Graphics config has:
iGPU frequency - N/A
Primary display - auto
iGPU memory - auto
Render standby - enabled
iGPU multi-monitor - disabled
Does this tell you anything?

Is the video display ok though? You just dont see it in the Nvidia CPL?

If you still have the problem restart your computer in SAFEMODE WITH NETWORKING

uninstall the graphics drivers

download ( do not install from CD ) the video drivers

reboot in normal mode

If windows wants to restart after finding video card then restart

then install the video drivers from the downloaded file

reboot

check the Nvidia control panel..
