Solved unable to go to desktop, refresh or reset windows8 laptop

Partition 6 is your Recovery Image partition and will be assigned the drive letter R: You can go ahead and assign the drive letter and find the directory structure. Then use the Dism command where you find the Image Info.

Partition 4 is your OS partition and is the one that will be formatted and then assigned as C: later in the process.

We still need the Path to the Recovery Image and the Index for the correct image.

on your picture sir its partition 4 as c but there is no 7.
while on instructions its partition 7 as R but there is no 4.

If you have made restore points & have a command prompt you can type in

rstrui.exe

& press Enter to pull up System Restore & choose a restore point to go back to.

You are correct.

The partitions are shown in the actual process, just the commands are shown in the instructions. Do not confuse Volume numbers with Partition numbers. The commands all deal with partition numbers.

But again, don't worry about partition 4 or C: until you get the information we need.

Now do a dir /a R:\Restore

The install.wim file should be in this directory.

I see a RecoveryImage folder on your attachment. So if you do a dir /a R:\recoveryimage you should see the install.wim file.

So your path will be R:\RecoveryImage\install.wim and you can use that in the DISM /Get-ImageInfo command, which happens to be the same path I show.

Ok, now you have the path and you know you need Index 2. Whenever you are ready, we can proceed with the rest of the process.

But again, a warning, once you format the OS partition, all the data will be gone.

You will be able to follow the Command Prompt Window I attached to finish the procedure.

I already backup my files and it there are no files left on my drive. So its ok.

my concerned is that, i has a preinstalled windows8. After the format wil it be gone also?

Next, pick up where you format the OS partition using diskpart, then continue with the rest of the process. Make sure and use the bcdboot command before you reboot. Use the instructions and the Attached Command Prompt window to verify the commands are executing correctly.

It may take some time for the image to be applied, so be patient.

Edit: The original install will be gone and replaced by a Factory image setting the system back to the Out of the Box condition.
