Unable to create new folders on external hard drive

Hello everyone,
I have lot of media files on my external hard drive so I decided to tidy up by creating folders Suddenly I run into this error

This is a new laptop
Inspiron 13 7000 Series 2-in-1 Tablet PC | Dell Canada

Im running windows 8.1 I have full permissions and I don't know what to do

To clarify, you are creating folders on the external hard drive, not the laptop's drive? I know that's what your title says, but still want to make sure. Since you are doing such a simple task and receiving a catastrophic failure, it could be that the external drive is having hardware issues. You can check it's sector health with Hard Disk Sentinel: Download Hard Disk Sentinel

The drive doesn't seem like it's doing too well. You probably want to get it replaced using the warranty or whatever.
I checked your drive's warranty status according to the serial number, here's a screen:

How did you do that? Does this mean I can get my hard drive replaced before the 27th?

If you end up setting up an RMA with them don't forget to ask for a shipping label to send the unit to them for free...it's a UPS label.
