Hi, I am new to this forum and hope that I have posted to the correct place.

I am running an HP Desktop Pc with 4Gb RAM running Windows 8.1 64 bit.

I can connect to our home wireless network and get all my emails without a problem. All other devices using the network can access websites without any problems.

When I try to access the web using Internet Explorer 11, I cannot access any website. The "waiting for ......" is displayed but no website loads.

I tried to install Google Chrome to see if that worked but when the installer tried to access the net to download the software, it could not connect to the required site.

I would appreciate any assistance

Hi, Samuria

Thank you for your reply. The PC does not seem to have a proxy.

I have had success in accessing websites since my original post.

Here is what I did:

  1. Ran SFC /scannow
  2. Turned IE11 off using "Turn Windows features on or off"
  3. Restarted the PC
  4. Turned IE11 back on
  5. Restarted the PC
This seems to have solved the problem. Hopefully, the problem has been permanently solved.
