Hi,

While exploring Device Manager today in my Win 8.1 system I discovered I had three entries listed under Sound, Video and Game Controllers:

(1) AMD High Definition Audio Device
(2) CyberLink WebCam Virtual Driver
(3) Realtek High Definition Audio

Every now and then when my wife is playing some of her Facebook games she says the computer will shut down and restart with a message similar to: "Your PC ran into some problems and needs to restart. We will correct them and restart for you." She says that message is preceded by what looks like a 'sad' happy face.

As an added note in Device Manager under Audio inputs and outputs both my Microphone and Speakers are controlled by Realtek High Definition Audio.

That being said do I really need the two Sound Cards (1) and (3)? If not, which one could I disable?

Thanks and regards,

The AMD High Definition Audio Device is for HDMI audio.
The Cyberlink Webcam is for your web cam.

Nothing there that is duplicate or needs disabling.

The problem with the PC ran into some problems has nothing to do with audio. Can't say what that is but its for one of the other forum sections that deals with crashes.

The AMD is for digital HDMI it is basically a bypass for the audio andyou can only adjust the sound on the receiver or right clicking and using Enhancements in Windows Media Player in Now Playing Mode. The Realtek is for built in speakers and cinch cord hook-ups so analogue.

EDIT: Ok firebird you were faster
