Solved Trouble with Windows 8 activation (gotten from Dreamspark)

I got Windows 8 Pro from Dreamspark earlier today and everything went fine, till I tried to personalize things. I can't change my user profile picture or go to "Change PC Settings" (both do nothing when I click them). Other locations online says my problem is that it's not activated, but I've confirmed activation. Anybody know what could be causing the problem and/or how to fix it? Thanks.

I am having the same issue. If anyone knows how to fix this that would be great. Mine is a dreamspark download for school as well.

I don't know if this is what caused your issue Jer, but mine was caused by me using an unattend script to move ProgramData and Users folders to a different drive than Windows. Once I installed it without doing that my personalization stuff started working again.

Mine fixed itself too. I think it started when I added a new hard drive. It wouldn't do windows updates for a bit and then all of a sudden it updated my keyboard software (Microsoft keyboard) and things worked after that. It was really odd. I didn't do anything to fix it.

substantial change of hardware can cause de-activation. So you laptop was just verifying against MS sever to determine what changed, and if that warranted a de-activation meanwhile you were stuck . Peace out yo.
