In the 1959-60 season there was a very primitive TV series about astronauts called "Men Into Space". It was all space-suits and helmets and rockets and space-stations -- based on the then-popular ideas of what space travel might be like, at a time when it hadn't yet happened.
Here's a link to an episode, and a picture of the series star, William Lundigan, in his toy space suit. Somehow he has a "William Shatner look" about him, even though they don't really look alike.
