Sysprep Won't Update - Activate

I'm trying to make myself a Sysprep Image to Deploy to various computers. A very general one, nothing installed and no settings changes. I've done this with Windows 7 a few times but now running into a few problems.

1. I'm using a Retail Image on a Verified Windows 8 machine.

2. Got into Audit Mode.

3. Installed KB3021910 and then KB3172614
Which is how I always do it and it works fine.

4. Set to automatically update then started checking for updates. Windows said it could not Update at this time or something to that effect, and to try again later.

5. After failing to get Updates, I noticed that the Timezone was off so fixed that. Then noticed that Windows was not Activated.
I don't remember if Windows 7 Activated when I sysprepped Windows 7, do I need to be Activated to Update?

Thanks! Stealth

Okay guys, a google search has provided enough for me to get to where I want to be...thanks. I'm still open to any suggestions but at this point I think I will just boot normally through OOBE and create a Temporary User account, Update, Image, and then just create new account and delete the Temp account after deploying the image.

Can someone tell me if I should Turn Off Fast Startup when ready to Image with Sysprep?
