Why wont my Win8 phone come up on my Win8 tablet's Desktop in File Explorer by a USB connection. It did once, but no more. Any suggestions welcome. Thank you!

Could be a couple of reasons.

  1. Reboot your phone. Sometimes they just won't talk to each other.
  2. All USB cables are not equal. If you use the cable that came with your phone, you should have no problem. If you are using a different cable that came with another device, it may or may not work.

Thanks guys.
No I did not update to 8.1 recently. I do have the Windows 8 phone app downloaded on my pc though I found it confusing to say the least. It did not help in my case. I tried it both from my tablet and my laptop.

When I upgraded to 8.1 it would not recognize it either. Just to make sure, on your phone please go to Settings > About to make sure what OS you have.

When attached, can you see it in Device Manager? Make sure Device Manager is in "Show hidden devices" mode.

You found the app confusing? Did you read up on it in Charms > Help?
