Synaptics Pointing Device keeps freezing

#1
HI all, I know I don't post on these Forums much like I do on the Windows 7 Forums, but anyhow I just upgraded my laptop from Windows 7 Pro to Windows 8.1 Pro and I am currently working on getting all of the updates installed, but while the updates are installing and I am doing other things, I am having some issues with my touchpad not wanting to respond and freezing up, when it does this I know it has nothing to do with the actual PC itself as I am able to hit the Windows Button and it takes me back to the start screen, but yet the touchpad is still frozen, I have been trying everything to keep it from freezing and I just don't know what to do, the driver itself is all up to date and everything, so if somebody can give me some advice with this issue that would be greatly appreciated, thank you and have a good night

Hi!
Well, to go back to the beginning of Windows in the early 90's, the mouse has always been treated as the poor red-headed step child.
In the priorities, in Windows, the mouse (or touch pad) is at the bottom of the priority list. When Windows is busy, the mouse and even the keyboard just have to wait their turn. I see this phenomenon on my own computer and I've just gotten used to it. I might type something on my screen and then sit and wait before the letters appear on the screen. I'm only talking about a few seconds, but the delay is real anyway.

To do a little troubleshooting on your particular problem, I would first plug in a USB mouse, either wired or wireless and see if it would do what you want, at a reasonable speed. Personally I always use a WiFi mouse on a laptop, because it can be 10X faster than a touch pad when you're trying to get things done. It would take me eight hours to do, on a touchpad, what I can do with a real mouse in just one hour.

It could be, that you have so many things running in the background that the mouse (or touchpad) just has to wait its turn.
Minimize all that stuff running in the background and your mouse might be more responsive.

My personal preference is to disable the Touchpad on any laptop, and just use a WiFi mouse. (I have eight laptops, and I use a WiFi mouse on every one of them.)

So give that a try.

Good Luck to you!

I have read your question that synaptics pointing device driver keeps freezing. This error came out due to different issues including incompatibility driver, hardware or system issues, different operating system from Windows XP to Windows 10 and different notebooks models as well. There are different ways to get the solutions like
1- Install chipset driver and Intel I/O Acceleration driver
2- Disable Driver Signature Enforcement
Hope it help to get rid of your problem.
