"Switch between apps" box stuck on desktop

I use the classic desktop in Win 8.1, but occasionally find myself in the tiled screen or Settings. When doing that during the last several days, I'm getting a "Switch between apps" box pop up on the edge of the desktop and can't get rid of it short of a reboot. Clicking on the arrow causes it to go back to the left and return to the original place. I posted on the MS Answers forum, but the "support engineer" said it's part of Win 8.1, there to be helpful and the arrow goes away when clicked on; i.e., she blew me off (that sort of help is all too common on MS Answers). Is there a way to get rid of it? Thanks,

Are you running the Classic Shell?

If so, you can go into 'Settings' by right clicking on the Classic Shell START button and select 'Settings'.
Then at the top of the Settings Windows, click on the box next to "Show all Settings".
Then click on the Windows 8.1 Settings tab.
Then click the box next to Skip the Metro Screen....
and then Under "Disable Active Corners", click the "ALL" box.
Then at the bottom of the window, click "OK".
Theoretically, after a reboot, that should prevent the orange arrow in the corner from popping up again.

I've seen that on windows 8.1, and I was able to get rid of it, but right now, for the life of me, I can't remember what I did.
I can't try it now, because I can't seem to get the arrow to appear.

* The Classic Shell is still under revision, so make sure you have the latest version.

Y'all have a great day now, Y'hear?

Thanks, Techno. I do use Classic Shell and have intentionally kept the Active Corners around for when I occasionally need something over there on the right, such as Settings. Maybe I should turn that around and change the Classic setting when needed (my old IBM keyboard does not a Windows key and I haven't wanted to assign one). I'm on an iPad Mini right now, so I'll check the version later. If you happen to eventually remember what you did to get rid of that arrow, please do follow up. Thanks again,

Update: I am using the latest version of Classic Shell, 4.2.5.
