I currently have my laptop connected to to a 34" high definition tv set via HDMI it is controlled by a remote keyboard & mouse from a USB infra red dongle. I was wondering, since the graphics and audio are onboard and have to share just 4GB of system memory will this setup be likely to shorten the life of the relevant components particularly as I intend to continue with the present setup? I should add both audio (Realtek) and Intel HD4000 graphics do an incredible job projecting video to a relatively large screen.

Hello there gervaise,I wouldn't worry that much, about them "relevant components".They are meant to "operate",work to their full potential,up to the level they are supposed to support.Unless "overclocked",under-maintained or mishandled, they should keep up for at least "ages"!Keep your machine in reasonable temperatures,dust-free,not a thing to fear of...
Pentium 3's are still operational,a 2013 laptop will sure survive a simple projecting task, keep the faith!
