Thanks for all the replies, now i only need is on how to clean install it when it always prompt me that the key does not match any of the version in the installation media. even i used the installation media before for repairing the computer(Repair your computer) the option that comes along with the install button.

Must be modified media? Does it prompt you to select a version to install? It shouldn't.

I believe the Asus CSM is set to UEFI & Legacy by Default.


The embedded key can only be used with a Microsoft official DVD/USB.

Launch CSM was disabled on my laptop. If I enable it another option pops up replacing the Fast Boot option, Launch PXE OpROM. The description states, "Controls the execution of Legacy PXE option". My guess is you have to turn Launch CSM on and then enable Launch PXE OpRom to put it in Legacy mode. Disabling Launch CSM should put you in UEFI mode?

I'll take your word for it, this UEFI stuff is all new to me. I noticed if I enable Launch CSM, I get and AMD logo in the lower left of the screen that has the balls circling my ASUS logo. The Windows 8 boot screen. I have no Idea what its for or how you access it, if you can.

Where did you buy your win 8 - or machine as it came pre installed ?

Might be one of those core single language things.

the unit was bought in Dubai which came with the pre installed windows 8 single language. But i used the iso that i downloaded from the torrent to repair my laptop before. Just repair because when i click the install button it will always show me a message that the serial key does not match any version on the installation this. I don't know what to do. i can't manually input the serial key. and i am not prompted to select which version of windows 8 to install.

As to what Theog is suggesting, i dont know what to do, i can't input a serial key because it is automatically getting the serial and keeps on returning that it does not match. and if i do a format the HDD (using disk manager) will that resolve my problem? i think not a solution for that.. Still waiting reply from the email i sent to asus.

I don't think deleting the current partitions will fix the rejected key issue. If you launch disk management from the currently installed Windows it won't let you anyway. Well you might be able to delete the system reserved but it won't let you delete the windows partition it is running from. SIW2 might be on to something with the core single language thing. You may have to byte the bullet and pony up for a set of recovery disks from ASUS.

As far as I can tell you need the default product key to get the thing to install, that is not the same as the key which activates.

can you give me a link where to download or to get the hash value for that file so i can check if my downloaded iso is same with your suggested copy of windows 8. thanks.
