Solved Start browsers opening on Desktop, new change?

I have just re-installed W.8.1 via a bootable USB flash drive as a dual system with W.10 on a partition. I haven't been using W.8.1 for a while, but I am getting a strange deal. All the browsers on my Start screen are opening on my Desktop. Has something changed in the meantime via updates or do I have to change something so that I can get them to open on my Start screen? Thanks for all suggestions!

i may not be understanding, but perhaps this setting is what you want:

1. right-click the taskbar, go to 'properties', go to 'navigation' tab.
2. under the header 'start screen' untick the option 'when i sign in or close all applications on a screen, go to the desktop instead of Start'
3. click 'ok' button

Thanks for the suggestion BlackVeils. Yes, I think you may have misunderstood. My Internet Explorer browser on the Start Screen was opening on the Desktop. I solved it by opening the Internet Explorer browser in the Desktop from the Task Bar. I selected the 'Settings' icon on the top left of the browser>Internet Options'>Programs>Clear the box: 'Open Internet Explorer tiles on the Desktop'. That solved the problem.
