I have an older Gigabyte mobo, still on SATA2. There were 3 settings in the mobo that deals with IDE vs AHCI, I changed them all to AHCI. I also notice in the BIOS where it says "IDE Master 0", my SSD isn't listed there, it just says None. When I rebooted, there was an additional post screen that says it's searching for AHCI devices, then it says it didn't find any. I installed windows 8 anyway and it worked. I used AS SSD benchmark to confirm that it is running AHCI and aligned properly. So, according to that, I'm running on AHCI, but everytime my computer boots up I still get that same message: searching for AHCI devices and not finding any. What's wrong here?

Same is happening with my MB (check my sig), it doesn't show in boot menu but it's there when choosing default boot drive. My guess is that they were not ready for SSDs at the time. I scared me first time I put SSD in, thought it was DOA. It does show properly when in IDE mode but that's not good for SSD.
