Special Themes (AeroLite and High Contrast variations)

I use High Def all the time because I don't see so good. But those dark themes that you guys have would be difficult for me. I need contrast like this.

Hello Wolfgang,

It's true. Themes similar to that one aren't posted here yet.
However what you posted there is almost a 'dark' one as well since there are no pure white backgrounds seen.
Depends on what you need.

The dark ones are a luxury without the use of third party patches. Glad that High Contrast exists.

Your screenshot looks pretty interesting.
What is the special ingredient? I mainly see purple-teal combinations.

Cheers!

The purple is just a color I chose because it gives me good contrast. But the colors are very easy to change and easier than in the high def on Windows 7 (first picture).

But I have several theme versions with different colors (see second picture). For me the contrast is important.

I hope they fix the problem with the modern UI. That is not integrated with high def and quasi unusable. Third picture is an example of e.g. the Updates page. The background should be dark blue in this case so that the yellow hyperlinks can be read.

DarkBlue-Yellow works like magic. Inverted colors to eachother provide the best contrast.

Yes some elements aren't fully covered in HC mode.
Strange result in your 3rd picture. The white background from the update would suggest your theme is based on High Contrast White or isn't refreshed properly (see below).

A black theme usually has a black background.

All backgrounds are dark in my example here.

Your first picture doesn't show a white background. Update should get one of the backgrounds color.

Noted in this thread:
Sometimes you'll need to refresh your theme; If you switch from a HC theme to another HC one, not all colors are changed.
Switch temporarily to (normal) Aero or AeroLite themes and then switch back to HC again.

That was just an example. Sorry about that.

I was trying to explain where the yellow text got that white background on update window.
Yellow is global and all elements use it but the update window is unreadable because of the white.

Are you running Windows 10 there?
In any case I tested, the themes there as well and the background should work as in Win8.

But it's true that not all works well on High Contrast mode.

Yes, that was a Windows 10 example. In 8.1 it is better. Another problem is Office. They have their own skins that are not compatible with the high def. I guess the right hand does not know what the left hand does.

I agree.
And Office isn't the only case.
HC needs some polishing, fixing at least the major visible issues we encounter.

I saw on google a guy who did this scheme:

But he didn't provide the themefile. Anyone can make a theme resembling this screenshot?

I couldn't find extra details about that either. But something made in win8 was also found here:

Win8 - TDWTF Forums
He also didn't provide the theme file.
There are minor variations between the screenshots but for 98% it's the same stuff.

Anyway now we are close enough in making a resembling theme, if still needed*. :thumb:

*as mentioned, one like that is already available (http://www.eightforums.com/customiz...ontrast-variations-post459037.html#post459037)

Green theme: case closed.

Cheers!

Two variations on the first high contrast midnight theme follow:

These are selected examples from a broad range of possibilities.
You can make variations yourself if you know the right parameters and color combinations*.

* by editing a theme file in Notepad for instance.

EDIT: themes updated.

In addition, some matching cursors:

I'm using the midnight-blue one and I'm lovin it.
Thanks much Hopachi!:thumb:
