Some People Seem To Think Windows 8 Is A Programme Rather Than An OS

The more I read the various forums here and elsewhere and especially the Microsoft Windows 8 ones, I am convinced that there are a whole lot of people out there that think Windows 8 is a programme rather than an operating system.

Questions like "I don't like Windows 8 how can I uninstall it?", or "How can I access my Windows 7 now that I installed Windows 8 (on the same partition)" abound and I just look at these posts incredulously and wonder what planet these people were born on !!

Then there are the hundreds of people who cheerfully got rid of their OEM Vista or Windows 7 and installed beta Windows 8 and now are desperate to know what happens when the 'trial' ends. I think it was a grave mistake for Microsoft to allow such a wide distribution of beta versions of the OS.

Sorry folks but I just had to vent - it saves me strangling these people, metaphorically of course.

At least those people should have the product key underneath their laptop.
Sometimes people don't want to wipe the partition. ( they might want to keep their files?) That's why they ask how can I uninstall it. Maybe?

When I was 10, I created a shortcut and named it fifa2005.exe and double clicked. I thought I could launch the game that way.
Those people might be as dumb as I was then

Looking at the thread,
I suggested an upgrade to 8 to my family and my Aunty decided to try the Consumer Preview as she thought it was "free".

We went to buy recovery disks and had to restore her Vista OEM. She's alright now, but it wasn't a real fun experience. :[

I am usually amazed at the people who manage to find, download and install an OS, but never give a second thought to what am I doing or how can I go back. I am no newbie, but I still question, read, test, and worry about making these kinds of changes.

As was I, it downloaded as setup.exe, and she ran it. When I originally tried downloading the CP the same happened to me. I had to go into ISO formats, :)
Microsoft made ther Consumer release a little too "public friendly". ;)
